I design rugs which are woven in Nepal. Every step in their creation is by hand. They are hand-knotted (80 knots/sq. inch) and made of hand spun, hand-dyed wool. The weavers are certified with GoodWeave, a global nonprofit organization working to end illegal child labor in the carpet industry and offer educational opportunities for children in South Asia.
The rugs are 'sculpted', hand-trimmed between every two colors/shapes. Because each is dyed and woven by hand, there are subtle differences between any two rugs of the same design. I value this aspect of the work -- the element of surprise and reminder of the labor-intensive handwork in this collaboration.

In addition to what you see in the gallery below, I also do custom work: adjusting the palette of an already existing design or creating something entirely new. I can work with you to create a rug in any design and size. If you are interested in placing an order and/or have any questions, please contact me. I look forward to talking with you.
Production time is approximately 3 months once the design is delivered to the weavers. I will stay in touch with you regarding progress and ETA. Prices are charged per sq. ft. Depending on the extent of customization, an additional fee may apply.

“I collaborated with Liz designing a custom rug for my client’s home. My client loves to travel and bring pieces of her adventures home. When we renovated her condo we knew a special piece was needed for her Living Room…..an art piece for her floor. We contacted Liz to help us bring together her experiences from her travels and combine them into a rug to cherish forever. Liz went through the client’s photos and tokens she’s collected over the years to create the overall design. We then collaborated on the collection of colors for each area to truly make it a one-of-a-kind collaborated piece of art. The client not only loved the symbolic design but also the quality of the wool rug and the story of the Nepalese people who handmade the rug for her. Liz was able to get photos of the rug being made in Nepal to share with the client for her to add to her storied collection.”
